Amonkhet is the first set in the Amonkhet block. It is an Egyptian-style civilization, with five gods that are ultimately ruled by the God-Pharaoh. The five gods are Oketra, Kefnet, Bontu, Hazoret and Rhonas. To be considered "worthy" for the afterlife, one must pass the trials of the gods. First is Oketra's trial of Solidarity, where initiates must protect an obelisk and retrieve Oketra's arrow. Next is Kefnet's Trial of Knowledge, where initiates must use only their minds to navigate a maze. The trials of Rhonas and Bontu follow suit, until finally Hazoret's Trial of Zeal. All initiates who make it to this point are considered worthy, and this final trial determines their place in the afterlife. The initiates must fight to the death, until only one remains. The final initiate is the most worthy, and is awarded the honor of being killed by Hazoret's two-pointed spear. The Gatewatch came to Amonkhet when they discovered the elder dragon Nicol Bolas was behind Tezzeret's schemes. Gideon considers joining the Trials, before seeing how doubtful citizens are treated.
