As discussed with Artix Kreiger, I'm currently running for a promotion to bureaucrat status. I've been part of the wiki since Feb, 2016 and filled my role as long-term admin.
Purpose of the promotion is primarily for "back-up" reasons. We had long periods without active bureaucrats and in case Artix is absent, there would still be someone around to keep an eye on the wiki.
So, as always, I'm asking the community to share their thoughts and comment below. We'll keep this thread open for about two weeks before coming to a conclusion.
As announced TwoTailedFox started improving our cardtable template by using the Arrays extension. I'd like to invite everyone to have a look at it and give some feedback. Here's TwoTailedFox's original post:
TwoTailedFox:
I created a preliminary draft of the card table (in no way representing anything finished or final) here that demonstrates the same functionality, but greatly cuts down on variables required. It also means that there is, technically, no limit as to what can be placed in the array, whereas the previous implementation had a hard-coded limit. The article that uses it is here.
I can expand this to cover the Cost system, too. Each of the icons can be called using multiple, simple codes, such as 1, 2, 3, G, F, W, L, D, etc.
Thanks to Yami Michael's idea and request, we have implemented a "Null Edit Button" on the wiki. Some of you might have already noticed, others may ask "Fine, but what is it?"
So, here's a small introduction:
A null edit acts similar to purging a page, in other words clearing the cache and forcing a refresh of an article from the server. This is normally used to display the latest data on a page or update it without making an actual edit, i.e. let's say you wanted to see if your new page is linked properly.
Now, the benefit of null edits instead of purging is, that it also works with categories, whatlinkshere and dpl. Apart from that the button is a nice shortcut and you don't have to type into the command line of your browser.
The button can be found in the edit drop-down menue (see screenshot). Simply click on it and you'll see fresh data. Neat, huh?
For everyone interested the documentation can be found here. If you want to set this up for your own wiki and don't know how, just drop me a line.
I'd appreciate a small feedback from all contributers if it works and is considered as useful.
Attention - Forums have been enabled for Magic: The Gathering Wiki! This is quite an exciting time.
Before Forums were enabled users had to message themselves on their message walls. Now these subjects can be moved to the Forum from now on: in the General Discussion board, Questions & Answers board and more.
Please don't hesitate to use Forums - Communication is what they are made for!
Members of the Community - Please be informed that our wiki is now has a Gaming Footer, where our Wiki is put on a template with a gallery of others, then placed at the bottom of each Wiki involved.
This feature is powered by GamePedia and Fandom.
In short, if you look at the Home page, you will see that there is a template on the bottom that lists our Wiki and others, and will potentially attract more members to our Wiki.
Magic: The Gathering Wiki is dedicated to "The Gathering" (colloquially Magic or MTG), a collectible card game created by mathematics professor Richard Garfield and introduced in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast. Magic is the first example of the modern collectible card game genre and still thrives today, with an estimated six million players in over seventy countries.
