Definition: Not drawing or having in play the right cards to produce the mana needed to play card in your hand.

This is not a technical term in magic but it is one that players use often. This happens frequently for a few reasons:

  • A player has a bad balance of Lands/Mana producers to spell ratio
  • A deck was just separated into lands, instants, creatures ...etc and was not shuffled properly
  • There are too many different colors in one deck
  • Pure chance. Many times after shuffling/cutting a deck it just happens that all the lands are in the middle to bottom of the deck
